I was raised in ELA, i am tired of people that still live there not having a voice, paying taxes just as high as anyone else and not getting services, education and city funding, how can you expect peple to live in the conditions that you have ELA residents living, certain parts need more help then others, when cityhood passes you will see a growth of self confidence in our young people, please support this plan for CITYHOOD.

As a long time resident of ELA,i have not seen any real leadership in our community-which is SAD! i know there are many who worship Gloria Molina-I don't! she has been a lame duck supervisor who has been going thru the motions for too long. Our beloved community has regressed or stayed the same while, surrounding cities have prospered. It's time for GOOD change,NOT just change..I thank all involved in our Cityhood movement...

I lookfard to the continuance of the public hearing on the development of a proposal for Cityhood in East Los Angeles. I am a resident of the City Terrace Area and look forward to positive changes toward creating an improved relationship between the government and its people at a local level. This very important step at becoming a city and having the ability for the community to decide its own specific interests and goals. The County of Los Angeles has not always taken into account the sacrifice many in Unincorporated East Los Angeles have endured to maintain a sound working class community in City Terrace, meanwhile the County of Los Angeles' government facilities such as L.A. County Sheriffs, Fire and Emergency Command Headquarters and Sybil Brand and Bizcaluz detention Centers; all county facilities have had a significant impact on the community in which they occupy.
I ask that the people of the Unincorporated East Los Angeles have the opportunity to further study the impact a city would have on them.
•Our community is carved into several congressional, state legislative, and school districts, making government accountability difficult. There are 3 US Congressional Districts: 32-Chu, 34- Roybal-Allard, 38-Napolitano; 3 CA State Senate Districts: 22-de León, 24-Hernandez, 58-Calderon; 4 CA State Assembly Districts: 45- Cedillo, 46-Pérez, 49-Eng, 58-Calderon; and 2 School Districts: Los Angeles USD and Montebello USD.

The residents of East L.A. - NOT LAFCO, Supervisor Gloria Molina, L.A. County, or any other "concerned" outsider- should be the sole deciders on the question of taking on the responsibility of Cityhood. Its called DEMOCRACY!!

ELA, a City comprised of hardworking residents, retirees, students, and families that have consistently supported their Community and USA in many ways throughout generations in time.
The wonderful Residents and Businesses(big and small) are the Community. ELA deserves to become incorporated. Honesty, ethics, transparency, and sound fiscal management in Municipal Leadership will take unincorporated ELA to new heights and create a competitive City when this transformation in proposal occurs. This action of impact is long over due. There is an awareness of the political neglect that manifests from year to year in ELA. It is evident and certainly cannot be masked. Step forward and support Inc-ELA. Best Wishes, Former Pico Rivera Councilwoman Barbara Contreras-Rapisarda, CA, USA
All should be impressed w/the 16,000 signatures collected and the $200,000. raised and spent to further this cityhood of ELA movement. It's especially important to commend the hard work of so many young people involved in moving their community forward....and to not disappoint them. It will be a shame if their efforts for democracy are not realized and they become disillusioned w/the system and it's hard, unsympathetic ways.
For the past two years I have supported the incorporation efforts of the citizens in East Los Angeles. A continuance is needed in order to ensure that the economic and financial reports for the community are accurate and valid. Citizens in East Los Angeles will benefit from incorporation and the opportunity to focus at a more local level on their concerns and needs, and it is important that you not quash their efforts out of hand.

As a resident of Cty Terrace for over 42 years I have noticed little change in service and a huge jump in taxes to residents of East L.A. To allow the continuous of the the Public Hearings for the proposal for Cityhood of East L.A. is a step in the right direction for democracy. The voice of the residents in the unincorporated Eastside is loud and clear, let us decide. We are the community, the force behind politics. Lets not be afraid of change.
Some times it feels like me and my son are the only white people in East LA but I know this was a community of Jewish and Mexican family I am not ashamed to live here I believe that if the community came together it could grow more then it has.
We moved to East Los Angeles from Boyle Heights in the Google map it was calculated 2.5 miles away my car insurance jumped $250 a year I was told because they based it on the % of non insurance drivers we have lived here now going on four years my husband was raised in Boyle Height he says the programs with the library for families is better then when he was going up We may live in the so called ghetto BUT as a community we do not have to act like it
I would love to get involved in anyway I could please
I never heard of this meeting that passed where no one showed up why are fliers not passed out at schools posted I am leaving my email in the hope that anyone who has information websites I could visit MEETINGS I could attend camcer003@yahoo.com Thank YOU
